Welcome to the refurbishment, repurposing and restoration of retired Naval Captains Gig La Capitana. She will be specializing in Historic tours, Honors and military burials at sea. She will continue to serve our local military community as a piece of our living history.
The motor vessel La Capitana started her service in December of 1985 as a captains transport on a San Diego war ship. She saw light Service for twenty years before being retired in 2005. She then became the private charge of a couple of retired service men who preserved and maintained her until now.
the vessel is in wonderful shape and is jumping through the hoops and getting shined up for her summer debut. Her aesthetic is a bit ruff but nothing that a lot of sandpaper and paint can't fix. The new paint job will include the addition of some color to her. We have a bit of Finnish work to do and some benches to build for comfort.
